While on a walk along the Gorge Waterway the spirit of an elderly woman came to me unexpectedly for a second time. (First being about a year ago.) She stands in a window looking out to sea. She is worried because her husband hasn’t come home, and she wonders what has happened to him. Why is he late? Is he okay? (This is the same message she shared a year ago.)

I can see a very large ship which is not from modern times, so know this transmission is from a long time ago. I sense (in my knowing) the ship has been wrecked (sunk?), but no lives are lost. He is okay but is delayed coming home. I understand, too, she suffers from a mild dementia. Although she stands in my vision space in a state of worry, the husband she is worried about did come home and all was eventually well.

Curious at the purpose of our interaction I decide I might be being asked to offer comfort to her state of mind (?). With her confusion and worried state in my heart, I gently suggesting we comb her hair (a little dishevelled) and get her ready, for she will want to look nice for when he does come home. (Okay, this is a statement one would make to a woman during these times was my thinking. A woman now a-days might be offended but I didn’t think she would be and she wasn’t…) This helps to distract her a little.

I feel she is around 70 years old, a little confused, looking back at a time when she was much younger––lost in that worry from the past. As for her husband, I knew he was not the captain but had an important role on board. I also knew the ship would be far too big to be in the Gorge Waterway: a sea going vessel. I wondered if in her time she would be able to see the ocean from the vantage point of the upstairs window she looks out of. This was not a Naval ship.

I know which house she lives in (she showed me last time) so search for it again only this time take pictures and determine to do some research to see if I can find her. When a spirit comes more than once I always believe there is a purpose to be fulfilled and so hope to find out what that might be. It is such a blessing to be reached out to, I find.

Because the house is a Heritage house, I went that angle and sure enough discovered the address on a Heritage Home Tour pamphlet for the Gorge Waterway. A couple named George and Hadie lived there in the late 1800’s early 1900’s. George was a Purser on a Wooden Cargo Ship named the SS Barbara Boscowitz which went aground in 1904, in Parson’s Bay, (near Telegraph Cove on the mainland side N. Van. Island). George survived (I suspect everyone did by the picture of the wreck), so he did make it home to Hadie. Hadie would have been 38 at the time of the shipwreck.

Records of their lives after this time vary. The latest I found shows George passing at age 46 in 1909. Hadie lives to 1952, a ripe old age of 90, so one can see she may well have lived with confusion/dementia.

If anyone has any further information about this couple or wants to sleuth things out with me, let me know!

Meantime, I thank Hadie for sharing her story and send her gentle vibes to move her spirit through the confusion. Most importantly I bear witness to and acknowledge to the world the love and devotion she held for her beloved George.

With love,
Catherine ~
