I’d like to catch you. Can I try?
Asked the bee, of butterfly
Just stand still, a moment, dear
Your flights sporadic, now there, now here
If you could land, and hold quite still
I’d climb aboard, of my own free will
Together we’d be seen to float
From north, to south and ‘round about
My love for you, and yours for me
From flower, to cloud, then blossom tree
We’d dance together, for all to see
The butter and the dandy bee
And if the folks look on all puzzled
We’ll laugh, our inhibitions muzzled
Cuz’ where there’s love, conventions trifle
A lover’s tune cannot be stifled
Our joy will make the people smile
And we’ll continue in gracious style
Oh, let me climb upon your back
For courage is not a virtue you lack
Allow my honey to be your treat
For me, your sense of freedom’s sweet
One with t’other, we’ll soar above
For precious bug… It’s you I love!
